Oaklands Green, the Oaklands Park Renewal Project is an eight-year initiative to redevelop and rebuild public housing as well as create new private housing and to improve the area including new parks, roads and laneways. All 255 South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA) homes in the area will be replaced and 400 new houses built and sold. There is no reduction of public housing in the area.

All 255 public housing properties will be demolished and rebuilt over the life of the project. A relocation plan is being developed, and Junction will be working with you on the type of housing that will best suit your needs and where you want to live.

Yes – but possibly, not for some time. The redevelopment of all social housing as part of the project means demolishing all 255 homes in stages over the coming years to build new properties.

The first stage of the project, including the redevelopment of 21 properties is due to start in about six months following consultation with the broader community. If your home is among those to be redeveloped in the first stage, Junction will be contacting you shortly if this hasn’t happened already.

The Oaklands Park Renewal Project will be completed in stages over the next eight years.

There will be opportunities for tenants who want to move back into the new 255 homes to do so following the redevelopment. The management of my property has just been transferred from the South Australian Housing Authority to Junction.

Junction will work with you to be relocated into housing within its housing portfolio – of which most homes are close to Oaklands Park. If suitable housing cannot be identified within Junction’s portfolio, the organisation will work with you and other community housing providers in relation to alternate available and suitable properties.

You will be asked to sign a relocation agreement which is a document that outlines details of the new property, key dates and a list of all associated costs Junction will pay for. You will also be required to sign a new lease for the property you are relocating to.

As part of the project, the developers and Junction have committed to the South Australian Housing Authority and the City of Marion to continue to support activities at Rajah House. A range of new community spaces, activities and initiatives will also emerge as part of the project.

A Junction Relocations Officer will be available to guide you through each step of the process and assist you with as much or as little help as you need. We can also refer you to support services.

Junction can arrange help with packing for tenants who are not able to pack themselves or do not have any support in place to assist with the move.

Yes, we can work with the agency that provides your home assist support to ensure a seamless transition to your new home.

When the time comes, Junction will pay for the cost of relocation expenses, including a removalist.

You are welcome to invite a family member, friend, relative or support person to any meetings to assist as a translator. If this is not possible, Junction will arrange a translator.
