How will it happen?

Oaklands Green supports the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide and the South Australian Government’s vision to create a more sustainable housing system.

Oaklands Green has the potential to deliver exciting community benefits to greater Adelaide.

Careful
planning.

Oaklands Green is being carefully planned to align with the needs of South Australians and is following best practice design principles. We have been talking with a range of stakeholders and working with different technical experts to better understand what is possible for the site.

HRA OP is working closely with the City of Marion. Planning and design of the new Oaklands Green will be overseen by the South Australian Government. Community consultation on the draft masterplan will soon be undertaken.

Precinct
masterplan.

A draft precinct masterplan has been developed for Oaklands Green to provide consistency across housing design and planning, street and landscape design, public transport and community spaces.

In refining the draft precinct masterplan, we are looking to:

  • Utilise the existing street network to maintain a walkable and connected neighbourhood develop pedestrian and cycle access points to the Bombay Street Reserve and Oaklands Wetlands and Reserve
  • Engage with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure to deliver a bus service connection
  • Maximise the delivery of rear-loaded allotments to facilitate better on street parking
  • Engage with City of Marion to deliver streetscapes that meet its design guidelines
  • Design and constructing new laneways that allow ease of access for vehicles
  • Maximise opportunities to deliver additional street tree planting in laneways
  • Deliver a new stormwater management system to deliver water quality and minimise localised flooding
  • Upgrade and enhance the Rajah and Bombay Street Reserves
  • Create additional pocket parks/reserves
  • Investigate the creation of a permanent pedestrian/cycle link to Oaklands Railway Station
  • Create a socially integrated community through on-site place making
  • Plant new trees in existing streets and new laneways to promote tree canopies.
