Make friends from all kinds of places

Learning a new skill or hobby always brings
people from different backgrounds together

All around Oaklands Green you’ll find examples of the richness of diversity that our neighbourhood enjoys. There’s a whole tapestry of cultures and languages, religions and cuisines, that already call our suburb home.

It’s a diversity that’s also celebrated in landmarks. The Living Kaurna Cultural Centre, close to the Warriparinga Wetlands, is dedicated to the original owners of the land and water. The Shri Ganesh Hindu Temple, with its magnificent deities, belongs as much in South India as South Australia. While the newly built Islamic Mosque in Park Holme inspires all, with its majestic chandelier centrepiece.

There is also a number of Neighbourhood Centres around Oaklands Green that offer English language classes, new arrival programs and adult community education courses specifically created for migrants.

The City of Marion has always been a melting pot of nationalities and diversity, and Oaklands Green will provide new and affordable ways for people from all cultures to make a fresh start!
